Past Perfect Tense Examples in Hindi | Definitions and Rules


In the last blog of Past Continuous Tense, you have gained the knowledge of Past Continuous Tense and you have known that how to translate Hindi sentence into English of Past Continuous Tense. Now I am explaining the Rule of Past Perfect Tense in Hindi with examples. First of all, you will have to know, why we use Past Perfect Tense. We use Past Perfect Tense in Hindi to show the completed action of Past Time. Let’s start.


What are the definitions of Past Perfect Tense?

 

The past perfect tense shows actions or events that began and ended in the past before something else happened.


An action started and completed in the past before another past action. The second action is also a past action, but the past perfect tense is used only for the action which happened first.


An action that was occurring over a period of time, but ended before another past action. It signifies that the first action had to end for the second action to happen. This does not apply to continuous verbs.


"It is used for completed work in past time."

 

"जब हमारा काम Past Time में पूरा हो चूका हो तो हम Past Perfect Tense का प्रयोग करते है" |

 

हिंदी वाक्यों के अंत मेंचूका था, चुकी थी, चुके थेआता है |

 

Rule of making sentence from Hindi to English


·        Subject "He, She, It and Singular" के साथ  'Had'  helping verb का प्रयोग होता है |


·        Subject "I, You, We, They and Plural" के साथ  'Had'  helping verb का प्रयोग होता है |


·        Verb की 3rd form (Participles)  का प्रयोग होता है |


·        Negative Sentence में  'Had'  के बाद  'not'  का प्रयोग होता है |


·        Interrogative Sentence में  'Had'  को  'Subject'  से पहले तगाते है |

 

 

Sentence making formula

 

Subject + had + 3rd form of verb + object + etc.                  (Simple sentence)

Subject + hadn’t + 3rd form of verb + object + etc.             (Negative Sentence)

Had + Subject + 3rd form of verb + object + etc.?               (Interrogative sentence)

 


Examples:

 


She had written a letter to me. (वह मुझे पत्र लिख चुकी थी)

She had not written a letter to me. (वह मुझे पत्र नहीं लिख चुकी थी)

Had she written a letter to me? (क्या वह मुझे पत्र लिख चुकी थी?)

 


Other Examples in Affirmative sentence

 


I had got my post before two years.

मैं मेरा पद दो साल पहले प्राप्त कर चुका था |


She had shifted in US before one year.

वह एक साल पहले अमेरिका में शिफ्ट हो चुकी थी |


I had completed my work yesterday.

मैं कल ही मेरा काम पूरा कर चुका था |


You had achieved your goal last month.

तुम तुम्हारा लक्ष्य पिछले महीने ही प्राप्त कर चुके थे |


The woodcutter had cut the wood from the tree before one hour.

लकडहारा एक घंटा पहले पेड़ से लकडिया काट चुका था |

 


Adverbs of Past Perfect Tense

 


यदी दो वाक्य (Sentence)  before या after जुड़े हुए हो तो पहला वाक्य (Sentence) Past Perfect Tense में बनाते है और दूसरा वाक्य (Sentence) Past Simple Tense में बनाते है |

 


Examples:

 


The peon ______ (ring) the bell before I ______ (reach) the school.  (Answer is:- had rung and reached)


The patient ______ (die) before the Doctor _____ (come) to the hospital.  (Answer is:- had died and came)

 

Conclusion

 


The past perfect tense is used to show past actions. The past perfect tense demonstrates the past relative to timing or other past events and is often used for reporting on things that happened or were said. It is easy to form by adding had along with the past participle of any verb.
