Clauses

 

Adjective clause definition: An adjective clause is a type of dependent clause that acts as an adjective in the sentence. An adjective clause will always contain a subject and a verb. However, it cannot stand alone as a complete thought.

An adjective clause will always begin with one of the following words:

Relative Pronouns List:

  • that
  • where
  • who
  • whom
  • which

 

Relative Adverbs List:

  • when
  • where
  • why

 

Use of Who = जो, जोकि


इसका प्रयोग सजीवों के लिए किया जाता हैं |

It is used for Living things.


Examples:

Rohan is my best friend. He will go to London next year.

Rohan who will go to London is my best friend.



We can change it another way.

Rohan is my best friend who will go to London next year.

 

Use of Which = जो, जोकि


इसका प्रयोग निर्जीवों के लिए किया जाता हैं |

It is used for Non-Living things.


Examples:


Mannat is my favorite bungalow. It is made of marble stones.

Mannat which is made of marble stones is my favorite bungalow.


We can change it another way.

Mannat is my favorite bungalow which is made of marble stones.

 

Use of Whom = जिसको


इसका प्रयोग सजीवों और निर्जीवों दोनों के लिए किया जाता हैं |

It is used for Living and Non-living things.


Examples:


She is Renu. I saw her with her boyfriend in the garden yesterday.

She is Renu whom I saw in the garden with her boyfriend yesterday.


We can change it another way.

She is Renu whom I saw with her boyfriend in the garden yesterday

 

Use of Whose: जिसका, जिसकी


इसका प्रयोग सजीवों और निर्जीवों दोनों के लिए किया जाता हैं |

It is used for Living and Non-living things.


Examples:

He is Gajendra, His mobile has been lost today.

He is Gajendra whose mobile has been lost today.


Use of Where: जहां


इसका प्रयोग स्थानं के लिए किया जाता हैं |

It is used for the place.


Examples:


This is the famous hotel of Manali. I lost my money there last year.

This is the famous hotel of Manali where I lost my money last year.

 

Use of When: जब


इसका प्रयोग समय के लिए किया जाता हैं |

It is used for time.


Examples:


This is the famous date, 15 August 1947. We got our freedom from Britishers.

This is the famous date, 15 August 1947 when we got our freedom from Britishers.

 

Use of What: जो भी


इसका प्रयोग भाव को व्यक्त करने के लिए किया जाता हैं |

It is used to express the sense.


Examples:


You should do those work. Your parents tell you to do.

You should do those work what your parents tell you to do.

 

Use of That: की


It is used to connect the sentence.

इसका प्रयोग दो वाक्यों को जोड़ने के लिए किया जाता हैं |


Examples:


I was wearing the dress. I bought to wear to Jo’ party.

I was wearing the dress that I bought to wear to Jo’ party.



Use of Either-or: या तो या

इसका प्रयोग दो कर्ता या एक ही कर्ता की दो विशेषताओं को बताने के लिए किया जाता हैं |

It is used to connect the subject and their qualities.

Examples:

Ram is the good boy. Shayam is the good boy.

Either Ram and Shayam is the good boy.

 

Use of Neither-Nor: ना तो ना

इसका प्रयोग वाक्य में नकारात्मकता को बताने के लिए किया जाता हैं |

It is used for Negative sense in the sentence.

Examples:

Ram doesn’t play cricket. Ram doesn’t play football.

Ram plays neither cricket nor football.

 

So: इसीलिए

इसका प्रयोग इसीलिए के अर्थ में किया जाता हैं |

Examples:

I am hungry. I am eating mangoes.

I am hungry so I am eating mangoes.

 

As soon as: जैसे ही

इसका प्रयोग जैसे ही के अर्थ में किया जाता हैं |

Examples:

I saw a snake. I killed it by the stick.

As soon as I saw a snake, I killed it by the stick.


 

Use of But: लेकिन

इसका प्रयोग लेकिन के अर्थ में किया जाता हैं |

Examples:

He invited me at his birthday. I could not go due to an urgent work.

He invited me at his birthday but I could not go due to an urgent work.

 

Use of And: और

इसका प्रयोग और के अर्थ में किया जाता हैं |

Examples:

Ram is a good boy. Shayam is a good boy.

 Ram and Shayam are good boys.

Note: If two subjects are connected from and, we use the plural verb.

 

Use of Because क्योकि

इसका प्रयोग क्योकि के अर्थ में किया जाता हैं |

Examples:

I am eating mangoes. I am hungry.

I am eating mangoes because I am hungry.

 

Use of Both-and: दोनों और

इसका प्रयोग दोनों और के अर्थ में किया जाता हैं |

Examples:

Sita is my elder sister. Maya is my elder sister.

Both Sita and Maya is my elder sister.

 

Use of So-that: इतना की

इसका प्रयोग इतना की के अर्थ में किया जाता हैं |

Examples:

Rahul is the very intelligent boy. He can get 90% marks in exams.

Rahul is so intelligent boy that he can get 90% marks in exams.

 

Use of Too-to: इतना की

इसका प्रयोग इतना की के अर्थ में किया जाता हैं |

इसका प्रयोग Negativity के लिए किया जाता हैं |

Examples:

Rahul is very poor in studies. He can not get passing marks in exams.

Rahul is too poor in studies to get passing marks in exams.
